CALOR
Ramon Lima

“No longer feeling confined within one’s own skin”

CALOR brings together on stage three bodies with an initial temperature of 37°C. Three performers engage in a physical investigation, traversing the different degrees of heat generated by their bodies and their encounter. A rising inner heat seeks to ignite us from within, expanding the body until it can no longer be contained by the boundaries of its own skin. This radical expansion of intimate space into a shared one blurs the lines between self and other through ecstasy and dream.

CALOR marks the starting point of a broader reflection on the skin — the barrier that envelops us and defines the outlines of our being. Through this project, I explore the borders of the body in a quest for physical and sensory expansion. Heat becomes a transformative force, capable of reshaping matter, redefining the body’s contours and densities, and opening a portal to unusual physical states. These metamorphoses provoke a rethinking of what is allowed, desirable, or considered “normal” for a body, blurring boundaries and expanding possibilities.

This choreographic project continues the reflection initiated in my solo Somnambule, where I explored the notion of the “right to one’s own body.” Somnambule, through dance, questioned the permissions granted to our bodies by positioning sleep as a space of resistance to imposed logics of existence. With CALOR, I aim to deepen this exploration by emphasizing the possibility of a constantly expanding body, capable of redefining its own limits and becoming a shared, communal space.

Infinite Echoes – Revisited

Benoit Callens & Alice Cano

Infinite Echoes – Revisited is an in-depth exploration of the loop and perpetual motion machines. The two dancers and choreographers aim to push the boundaries of their work by revisiting concepts of physical constraint, integrating unexplored elements, and enriching the dramaturgy and musical composition to deliver a more complete and accessible piece—while staying true to their roots in Hip Hop dance.

Artistic Intentions
This project marks a new stage in our choreographic journey, building on the experience gained through our previous works Patchwork and Echos Infinis. It aims to deepen and expand upon previously explored ideas, with a focus on loops, physical constraint, and the influence of perpetual motion machines.

The loop remains at the core of our research. We are fascinated by its presence—in movement as in everyday life—and how it manifests in repetitive behaviors and thoughts. Loops evoke universal experiences. These themes will be more deeply embedded in this new version. We will also continue to draw inspiration from perpetual motion machines. These hypothetical devices, imagined to function indefinitely without any external energy source, mirror our own endless quest to create an ideal work. They symbolize the transfer, storage, and consumption of energy, while also questioning the relationship between the loop and the external environment…

Estranha forma

Catarina Barbosa

For Alice Canverbe
Portuguese proverb: “Quem canta seus males espanta” (“He who sings drives away his sorrows”)

Estranha forma is a solo performance, choreographed and performed by Catarina Barbosa. It is an outcry, a testimony, and a reflection on womanhood—specifically Portuguese womanhood in this piece. It tells the story of a woman who wakes up one day, looks at her life, and wonders how she got here. It’s also a questioning of artistic and sexual education, and of the environment in which we grow up. Estranha forma captures that pivotal moment in life—the one that flips everything upside down, the one many women have likely experienced—that moment of reckoning with one’s own life.

The Beginning of the Creation
One morning, in my family kitchen in Portugal, I was listening to fado music—the kind I grew up hearing. I was peeling potatoes and onions. The women were moving frenetically, preparing the Christmas meal. The men were also getting ready—but to eat—already sitting at the table or lounging on the couch.

I suddenly saw myself in the shoes of my grandmother and my mother. I felt strangely lost, like I didn’t belong. I started carving one of the potatoes into the shape of a penis, and I thought: “What would people think of me if they walked in right now?”

Because it makes no sense to do that while listening to a fado song about this “anxiety of life” given by God to the singer Amália (estranha forma de vida, which translates to strange form of life). Did God give me this anxiety too? Surely not. It would be so unfair to give anxiety to people—especially to women.
