Contre-forme

September 18, 2025 at 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM

Les SUBS, Lyon

Based on partitioned gestures drawn from our observations in sports environments, we compose dances. These choreographic writings are the shadows of the sports we have explored. Through our bodies and movements, we aim to stay suspended between sport and dance, nourishing what we call our “valley,” in reference to the uncanny valley.

By weakening each sport, we uncover a zone of ambivalence that opens up the imagination of our gestures, making perceptible the distances between bodies and their muscular tones. Like weather conditions, sports move across bodies and briefly reveal themselves.

Three disciplinary fields are explored: combat, athletics, and swimming, forming three distinct episodes, each lasting around fifteen minutes. These episodes may be performed together or separately.

The creation Contre-forme is programmed as part of La Plateforme 2025.
