Born near Milan, Italy, Francesca Mattavelli danced in the most prestigious european ballet companies before teaching dance. Today she puts classical ballet technics at the service of a more personal exploration of body and imagination possibilities. Classes are open to all dancers from all disciplines (classical, contemporary, hip-hop…).

Biography

After graduating from the Teatro Alla Scala in 2000 Francesca Mattavelli went to work at the English National Ballet in London, at Maggio Musicale in Florence and Balletto di Torino and she performed with the violonist Angelo Branduardi. In 2005 she joined the Lyon Opera Ballet where she performed repertory from William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Maguy Marin, Odile Duboc, Trisha Brown, Jerome Bel, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Philippe Decouflé among others.

Since 2014 she is working as an independent with Catherine Diverrès, Richard Siegal, Otto Ramstad and Olivia Bieringa, Yuval Pick… While dancing she attended the University Bicocca in Milan from which she holds a degree in Educational Sciences. Holder of a Diplôme d’État and Certificat d’Aptitude, she teaches classes and workshops with professional dancers and amateurs.
