Italian-born Francesca Mattavelli danced with prestigious European ballet companies before going on to teach dance. Today, she puts classical techniques at the service of a more personal exploration of the possibilities of the body and the imagination. The course is open to dancers of all disciplines (classical, contemporary, urban dance, etc.).

Biography

Born in Italy in 1980, Francesca Mattavelli graduated from the Teatro La Scala in Milan in 2000. She then joined major European ballets as a performer: English National Ballet in London, Maggio Musicale in Florence, Turin Ballet and, from 2005, the Lyon Opera Ballet. Since 2014, Francesca has worked as a freelance artist with choreographers such as Catherine Diverrès (Penthésilées), Richard Siegal (The Bakery, Forsythe Company), Otto Ramstad and Olive Bieringa, Yuval Pick… A holder of the Diplôme d’État and Certificat d’Aptitude, Francesca teaches classical dance to professionals and amateurs alike. She also teaches in schools. She is also involved in cultural mediation projects in the Lyon metropolitan area as part of the Pôle du Développement Culturel de l’Opéra de Lyon.
