SKINS is a choreographic experience that merges two worlds, that of stage composition and that of freestyle, to offer a profound and personal exploration. Through a series of intimate and expressive tableaux, the project retraces the defining chapters of Olivia Pierre’s life, her different skins. These scenes, each unique, address universal themes such as the search for self, resilience, love, fear and renewal. By placing vulnerability at the heart of her creation, Olivia Pierre wants to allow the audience to identify with or be inspired by these fragments of life.
Thus, the title SKINS refers not only to skin, but also to the different layers and clothes we wear to face life. Each skin represents a stage of life, like the metamorphoses we go through. This term also evokes vulnerability, touch, intimacy, and the way in which each skin can reveal or conceal a part of oneself. Finally, SKINS echoes a collective imagination, that of youth in search of identity and freedom. A youth that the artist did not fully experience, and which is revisited and explored here.
— Olivia Pierre Stone
Olivia Pierre began her training in hip-hop dance with the Nouvel Horizon association, where she mainly explored hype and house. At the age of 19, she began teaching in studios and associations, giving free rein to her creativity. She choreographed various shows for groups such as Khanya Savages, HKM, Official Gurlz and B. Family. With the latter, she took part in international competitions, notably reaching the finals of World of Dance and Hip Hop International in Paris in 2018.
That same year, she joined Kiki House Royalty with Mathieu Mendy, where she discovered voguing. In 2019, she joined the Carmel Loanga Company as a performer in The Dress, then Karim KH's company in La Pègre. At the same time, she began teaching at Lax Studio and Juste Debout School in Paris.
Between 2020 and 2021, Olivia worked with television productions (TF1) and prestigious brands (Undiz, Nike, Footlocker, Roger & Gallet), choreographing their advertising spots. She also worked with artists such as Angèle, Ronisia and M.I.A.
Under the name Olivia Stone, she finally made her mark on the underground hip-hop scene, achieving her first successes in France and abroad. Her motto: "By becoming creative beings, our lives become our works of art." (Julia Cameron)
