Contre-forme

September 18, 2025 at 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM

Les SUBS, Lyon

Based on partitioned gestures observed in sports environments, we write dances. These choreographic writings are the shadows of the sports we have explored. Through our bodies and gestures, we aim to remain in the space between sport and dance, feeding what we call our ‘valley’ — a reference to the uncanny valley.

By weakening each sport, we discover a zone of ambivalence that opens up the imagination within our gestures, making perceptible the distances between bodies and their muscular tones. Like weather conditions, sports move across bodies and become partially visible.

Three disciplines are explored: combat sports, athletics, and swimming, forming three distinct episodes, each averaging fifteen minutes in length. These three episodes can be performed together or separately.

The creation Contre-forme is programmed as part of La Plateforme 2025.
